Latte-Infused Desserts
If you like dessert-flavored lattes, you’ll love desserts with a latte topping. This festive dessert topping is terrific for holiday gatherings, or any time you need a sweet treat with a coffee kick.
- To make a latte topping, mix a tablespoon of chilled strong black coffee into ½ cup sweetened whipped cream or prepared whipped topping. (If you like coffee liqueur, you can substitute coffee liqueur for the strong coffee.) This topping is great on pumpkin pie, chocolate layer cake, coconut cake, vanilla layer cake, or pound cake.
- Use ice cream to make a mocha topping. Stir in a tablespoon of chilled strong black coffee into a scoop of chocolate ice cream and place atop cherry pie. If your ice cream is too firm to stir, heat it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds on medium power. If your ice cream is too melted after adding the coffee, place it in the freezer a few minutes to re-freeze.
- Your favorite liqueur can also become a latte topping for your favorite Sara Lee dessert. Simply stir a tablespoon your favorite liqueur with a half cup of softened vanilla ice cream. Some great flavor pairings are almond liqueur with cherry pie, Irish crème liqueur with pound cake, hazelnut liqueur with pumpkin pie, or orange liqueur with chocolate layer cake.
