Conversation Heart Sandwiches

  • 1 (10.75 ounces) package Sara Lee® Frozen Pound Cake
  • 1 container white frosting
  • 2-3 drops food coloring red
  • 1 package decorator writing gel red


  1. Slice the pound cake horizontally into three even rectangular sheets.
  2. Using the 2 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut three hearts out of each sheet.
  3. Mix 2-3 drops of food coloring into the white frosting to turn light pink.
  4. Spread frosting onto the top and sides of each heart and put together to form heart sandwiches.
  5. Write out cute sayings on top with the decorator gel such as “Be Mine”, UR Sweet”, “Hug Me”, etc.

  1. Can I make pettit fours using pound cake? Do I need to keep the pound cake frozen while dipping, and can Pettit fours be made ahead, then freeze. If so for how long?

  2. Hi Sandra, you can absolutely make Petit Fours with Sara Lee Pound Cake. The pound cake can be room temperature or cold while dipping in the frosting or drizzling the frosting over the pound cake. These can also be made and kept a few days prior to serving.
